Uses of Psychometric Testing Beyond Selection
Not many HR people are familiar with the uses of psychometric testing beyond selection. Yet, valid and reliable assessments are of equal value when it comes to employee development, leadership development and succession management, even as a tool to objectively determine employee well-being.
When dealing with a selection situation, the pressing question is: “Does this person fit the role requirements?” However, when one has a development hat on, different questions are more important. For example:
- “What is the most ideal role for this person?”
- “What is this person’s potential for advancement?”
- “Does this person have the potential to be a leader?”
- “At what level of leadership could this person be expected to function?”
- “What skills does the person possess that can be utilized in a different role?”
